This was a project that we had to do completely from Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline shapes, in other words a mathematically perfectly smooth object.
This was actually supposed to be a single wall with the character standing behind the wall looking in through the window; however I thought we were going to animate it. So I actually bothered with making an entire room from NURBS and it looks magnificent if I may say so. Then Mr. Shiro goes and says, "Alright class, I just want a single frame JPEG image of your wall." I was like, *death* I just freaking finished my entire room! #^@($&!!!
So anyway, the goblet took me nearly a week, the room was done in about two days and the guy standing there in front of you was done in a little under two hours. Jeez, I need to prioritize...
If anyone wants it, I will post some detail shots of the room and maybe some different camera angles. <EDIT>HERE IT IS! Go here if you want to look at the detail shots.</EDIT>
Yay specs!
23330 faces, 37 total objects, seven lights; six casting shadows, three ray-traces on the goblet.
Total time worked: 32 hours and approximately 45 minutes
