Greetings!

Sun Aug 9, 2009, 8:57 AM
Well I have no interesting or creative way to express this, but I guess I'll do my best to.

Soli is not dead! =D Nor have I given up drawing or any other medium of art that I may have taken up at one point or another; I have merely been experiencing an art block of biblical proportions. OK, truth be told it's mostly just because I've been too lazy to actually put any thoughts or ideas down onto paper. >.=.> So! In an effort to thwart this art block/lethargic behavior, I have taken up the 100 Art Themes Challenge! 8D I know, totally original, right? Do wish me luck, I'm going to need it... I would greatly appreciate any support, I know I'm not the greatest artist in the world yet; but I'm going to do my best to get there.

On a side note, in my absence of dA, I joined the United States Army. I now handle communications at a brigade level, providing phone, internet, and other data services to almost 10,000 soldiers. When I set out to accomplish the 100 Art Themes Challenge, I was unaware of the upcoming deployment date of my unit. Within the next month of this post, I will be off to war in Iraq. Fret not my friend! For there is no need to worry, I will not be in any danger, this I assure you all. I will have access to the phone and internet; but it will be limited. In the downtime that I'm certain to experience, I will put my efforts towards tackling every one of those themes and, in one way or another, publishing them to dA. Without a scanner, everything will probably just be a picture from my digital camera; but it takes incredible pictures, so the quality will not be poor. I no longer have a working version of Photoshop, nor any kind of tablet interface with my computer. My HP tablet laptop was literally broken in three pieces, and no, it was not the severing of the monitor from the base. The monitor, and the keyboard/base were snapped in half. But I am saving up to get Photoshop CS4, and a Wacom tablet; but neither one of those may be in my grasp any time soon.

I have already sketched a few of the themes already, and more should be done soon. Expect to see results soon! I may even post one or two of them before I am done here today. I apologize for the lengthy journal entry, there were a few points I had to address and I wanted it to be known that I am not as ill-hearted as my absence may have led some to believe.

Looking forward to the bumpy ride, I say farewell for now! ^.=.^

Happy Leif Erikson Day!

Sorry, I needed something that wasn't so generic as, "Happy Thanksgiving!"

I have some kind of gland in my body that just OOZES with originality when people become mundane and predictable...

Anyway, have a great Leif Erikson Day!

I think

Society has forgotten what Veteran's Day is and what it stands for. I needed a reason to post a new journal, so this is it.

I know it's almost two days late, but still. Veteran's Day is more than just a day off from work or school. It's about remembering those whom have been or were lost at war. So let's take a moment and remember them, for they are not lost so long as we do not forget.

Oky, that's enough of that, now onto the more eventful stuffs.

We've been working on our finals project for some time now in my animation class, and I must say; low-poly modeling is a pain in the arse. Still, it's TOTALLY worth the effort. I think I'll have a final product done by tomorrow or the following day. Depending on how much time Mr. Shiro gives us to work tomorrow.

Two of the models I've been working in depth on, one for *Lintufriikki's conest, and a gift for *Tusami were on my flash drive. Low-and-behold, I go and lose my freaking flash drive!

SO, I had to go back to somewhere around square two for those two models. Cause I didn't keep up-to-date caches of them on my desktop computer. I suppose in one way or another it's a good thing though. Now I have learned my lesson and keep a constant cache of my .max files on my lappy, flash drive, and my desktop. Also, I now have better looking models than I did before. Woo!

Anyway, that's the update, so expect some uploads in the near future.

I have decided!

To take the 100 theme art challenge!

I discovered a while ago that I desperately need some kind of topic to work off from before my creative skittles will kick in. Therefore I have taken it upon myself to face this 100 art themes challenge! While I am going to try and do them chronologically, we'll just have to see how long it takes me to skip ahead to a different one. =P

Soli's getting involved!

Thu Aug 30, 2007, 7:42 PM
:O

*gasp* I know! Shock and awe! I've had like the HUGEST art block I've ever witnessed. I've doodled, but none of it seemed worth posting. Maybe I'll slap it all together sometime and toss it into the mix...

I have inspiration now! That could be considered the prime reason for the hiatus. That or I'm just lazy. :D

Expect great things *cough*quote*cough cough*
